We went to Kharkiv today. It is grim beyond belief. Ukraine’s second largest city is being pulverized by Russian air strikes that have gutted its historical downtown.

The Russians once promised safe passage out of Ilovaysk, in 2014. Then they shelled the retreating column in the middle of the safe passage, killing over 400 Ukrainian soldiers. If you’re wondering about their offer re Mariupol.

So basically tiny Estonia supplied Ukraine with *twice* as much military assistance as France, the EU’s strongest military power and one calling for European strategic autonomy.
