I will be voting yes to change the Senate rules. I will be voting yes to advance voting rights. I will be voting yes to protect democracy.

As every member of the Senate knows, the rules around here get changed all the time. If we can change the rules to prevent a default on our national debt, if we can change the rules to confirm Supreme Court justices, we can certainly change the rules to save American democracy.

What we are debating today may seem complicated. But it is really quite simple. I’m LIVE on the floor discussing why now is the time to defend American democracy.

In 2005, Chuck Schumer said eliminating the filibuster would “wash away 200 years of history.” Now in 2022, Schumer and the Democrats want to change the rules so they can ram their power grab.

Democrats didn’t think the Senate’s 60-vote threshold was so bad last week when they used it to turn their backs on Ukraine and support Putin’s pipeline. Their hypocrisy knows no bounds.

Biden said he "outperformed" expectations. I'm not sure what planet he's inhabiting but on planet earth his record is a record of failure.

Our democracy is in peril. It just is. Today’s vote is one of the most important I will cast as a Senator.
