Could this be the Toronto #BlueJays  year? A couple up-close viewings of the club in Florida this weekend has me convinced they’ll compete. My latest column, on “Canada’s Team” and the promising potential to snap a 30-year championship drought. #wfp

I don’t see Josh Morrissey on the ice here for the #NHLJets  warmup. Looks like they’ll delay his injury return until at least Thursday. Kyle Capobianco is out here and expected to play. #wfp

Good morning from PNC Arena here in Raleigh, where the #NHLJets  have a chance to sweep a tough three-game road trip tonight against a struggling Hurricanes squad. Morning skate about to begin. Stay tuned for lineup news, injury updates and much more from on the scene. #wfp

It would also appear David Rittich will get the start in net tonight for the #NHLJets  . A good call, IMO. Connor Hellebuyck faced 83 shots in back-to-back weekend wins in Florida. Chance for a breather here. Then perhaps play next 3 (Boston and B2B in Nashville/St. Louis). #wfp

Here's some interesting #NHLJets  news: Patrik Laine just told me he's lost 14 pounds since the end of the season. He definitely looks leaner. Said he has skated way more this summer than last, is definitely quicker. I asked him how he lost the weight: "I ate less s--t food." #wfp

Winnipeg police looking for help finding Collège Béliveau teacher Kevin Dilk, 50. Left home Wednesday morning, hasn't been seen since.

Evander Kane rips off an Arizona player’s helmet in the final minute of the game with his team down 3-2. The referee puts up hand and calls a penalty - on the Arizona player, Ilya Lyubushkin, for playing without a helmet. It doesn’t get more NHL than that.

Teemu Selanne in-game interview, asked if he's used his key to the city yet. "I think I'm going to use it to open Palomino Club tonight."

The final 50-50 pot at tonight's #NHLJets  game was just over $272,000. So winner gets just over $136,000, and the Humboldt Broncos will be getting just over $136,000. #wfp

Mark Chipman says the 1,200 part-time workers at Bell MTS Place "work when we work" and they won't get paid in the interim. Re-scheduled events means the work will eventually come. Cancelled would mean it doesn't.

On the bright side, the mosquito trap count in Winnipeg is at zero.
