I am grateful to @GabbyGiffords  for her leadership in stopping violence against women in politics. Please share her message about the efforts of @NDI  to ensure that women everywhere can participate in the political life of their countries. #NotTheCost

I'm old enough to remember when @AmbassadorRice  was National Security Advisor and the U.S. had a functioning foreign policy decision making process. Read her book for lessons on democracy and global leadership. Grab your copy of #ToughLove  out today:

@realDonaldTrump  claimed ISIS was defeated but just gave them a new lease on life. His reckless abandonment of our friends will go down as one of this administration’s more disgraceful moments. Trump will be remembered by history as a great and unmatched disaster.

Last night @NDI  celebrated democracy by honoring comedians and satirists from around the world, including the incomparable @Trevornoah . Nothing beats fighting for a good cause and having a good time while doing it. #HumorHelpsDemocracy

All Americans should take pride in the patriotism and professionalism of public servants such as Lt Col Alexander Vindman, Amb. Marie Yovanovitch and Amb. Bill Taylor – and all Americans must reject the despicable smear campaign being waged against them by the president’s allies.

We depend every day on civil servants, diplomats and members of the military to keep our country safe and strong. Attacking them for partisan purposes betrays the constitution and hurts our national security.

The fall of the #BerlinWall  was a breakthrough for democracy but by no means a final triumph. Our ideals still have enemies, and all of us must carry forward the spirit of 1989 in our time.

Seventy one years ago today I arrived in America as a refugee under the watchful eye of Lady Liberty. I will always be grateful to this country for giving me freedom and to our veterans for defending it. #VeteransDay

As a grateful American immigrant, I will always stand with Dreamers and oppose the president’s attempts to demonize them. They contribute to our greatness. #DACA

To be clear, immigrants, legal or not, are people who want to improve their lives. To refer to them as animals or insects is to foster hate. What’s happening in Washington and on our border is sad, wrong, and unamerican.

The only thing more stunning than the scale of Russian interference uncovered today is the fact that an American President is taking no action to protect our country against an ongoing threat. This is a dereliction of duty.

There is no fine print on the Statue of Liberty. America must remain open to people of all faiths & backgrounds. #RefugeesWelcome

I was raised Catholic, became Episcopalian & found out later my family was Jewish. I stand ready to register as Muslim in #solidarity .

It’s a good thing Devin Nunes is not taking my course on national security decision making. I expect my students’ written work to be compelling, accurate, and unbiased. By those standards, I would have to give him an F. Let’s hope his constituents do the same in November.

Enjoyed watching #Eclipse2017 . A great reminder that all darkness is temporary.

As an immigrant and refugee, I am offended by the travel ban's cruelty. As a grandmother, I am insulted by its ignorance. #NoMuslimBanEver
