Mary Peltola has won Alaska's special House election, becoming the first Alaska Native and the first Democrat since 1972 to win the seat in the state's unique "ranked choice" system. Peltola outlasted a comeback attempt from ex-Gov. Sarah Palin (R), 51.5-48.5%.

Senate had a healthcare repeal vote tonight. It needed 60 votes but got only 43. 9 Rs voted no. McCain, moving speech and all, voted yes.

Joe Biden will not travel to Milwaukee to accept the Democratic presidential nomination due to concerns over the Covid virus. The last presidential candidate not to accept the nomination in person at the convention was FDR in 1944.
