Tomorrow I’ll publish an @SNPDefence  team paper with some ideas for the upcoming NATO Strategic Concept. We make recommendations on the three areas of state, society and the international system. @janekbradley  from @scotonsunday  gives a preview. Short article from me underneath.

Good to be back in Washington - the last place I visited before the pandemic. US

US Good to be back on Capitol Hill with colleagues today talking all things defence & security, Russia’s war on Ukraine and sanctions policy.

A good round of meetings in New York with @UN  Secretary General @antonioguterres , my good friend @SergiyKyslytsya  UA and permanent missions of FRINAUNZJPSGIDPWSE 🇪🇺 CAALIE to discuss international security, climate change & more. Huge thanks to @BWoodward_UN  & team.

Wishing everyone taking part in @prideglasgow  a fantastic day. As a community we have secured so many gains over generations, but we still have further to go - and those who want to roll back progress don’t take a day off. Our community, united, will win 🏳️‍🌈 🏳️‍⚧️

The news of a terrorist attack against Oslo’s LGBT community is horrifying. My heart goes out to the loved ones of the victims, and the entire community of Oslo who will be grieving today. You are all in the hearts of many from around the world.

Young people - as is so often the case - have been at the forefront of defending democracy, freedom and citizens’ rights in Hong Kong. It’s vital that the international community doesn’t abandon them as they stand up to a mighty, repressive regime.

The Prime Minister has not, in fact, 'got the big calls right', and repeating it over and over won't make it so.

Tory politicians taking to social media and the airwaves to downplay Boris Johnson and Rishi Sunak’s lawbreaking and lying, whilst also cynically using the blood of dead Ukrainians as a shield, is one of the most revolting episodes I’ve witnessed yet. A political and moral sewer.

I have resigned as a vice-chair of the @APPGLGBT  following Crispin Blunt’s statement. This was the first APPG I joined as an MP and it meant a lot to me. Parliament needs a respected and robust LGBT group and Crispin can no longer provide that leadership. He should stand down.

It was only a matter of time before our European allies called this out - and they’re right to.

So Downing Street stands accused of breaking the law and hosting a Christmas party when they instructed us all not to do so, and the PM is cutting about on national television dressed as a police officer? Totally normal country.

“Scots voted to stay in Europe and if the only way for us to do that is to become independent from England that may just be the way to go. And I never thought I would say that.” - Longstanding opponent of Scottish independence, Billy Connolly.
