As the winds weaken aloft, gravity will take over as the primary vertical transport of the smoke. Suspended smoke will descend closer to the surface and could lead to darker skies and worsening air quality today. This is beyond the scope of our models so we rely on your reports!

⚠️Dry t-storms will be possible again Sun - Tue. Any t-storms that occur will bring the potential for new fire starts, so a Fire Weather Watch has been issued. Remember, always have an emergency plan during fire season in case a fire starts near you. #CAwx

We have CANCELLED the Red Flag Warning. Stay weather aware as weak cells are still over the North Bay; however, most moisture has moved north of our area and instability has decreased giving us confidence to let the warning expire early. #CAwx

Reminder: AQI sensors focus on smaller particulates such as PM10/PM2.5. Some ash falling is larger than PM10 (width of human hair) & may not be reflected in AQI. Finer particulates remain suspended while larger fall. Take precautions to protect your lungs such as wearing a mask.
