0.03" of rain has fallen in Downtown San Francisco since the start of the Water Year on Oct 1. Normally through Nov 14, we'd expect to see 2.39" of rain. With records dating back to 1849, this has thus far been the 8th driest start to the water year. #CAwx #climate
How did the past dry starts to the water year (WY) add up by the year end? Generally, drier than normal. However, recall last WY 2018-19 started out dry, & ended up wetter than normal thanks to ARs in Jan-Mar. Bottom line: it's too early to say how this year will end up. #CAwx
Heads up: there is a chance of elevated fire weather concerns mid next week due to possible gusty N to NE winds in the hills and critically dry fuels. This is still fairly far out in time. We will continue to monitor this system in the coming days and provide updates. #CAwx
For all the astronomy enthusiasts out there: the Leonid Meteor Shower will peak overnight Sunday and into Monday morning. Although moonlight may obscure views of the meteors, skies should remain mostly clear. #CAwx
A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued through 9 AM this morning. Areas of dense fog have developed with visibility 1/4 a mile or less. If driving, slow down, use your low beams, and leave plenty of distance ahead of you. #CAwx
