Here's a rough idea of the timing/location of the showers and thunderstorms that are possible today (8/18) as the cold front moves through. There will likely be a greater coverage of showers and t-storms this morning with the front, then they'll be hit or miss this afternoon.

@BHeimTime  The storm that prompted the warning was east of Aberdeen, however there is additional rain/thunder that is just about to get to the fairgrounds. Nothing severe just now tho

Scattered showers and storms are expected through the day. Severe weather is NOT anticipated. Isolated showers are still possible on Saturday, but Sunday should be dry. #sdwx  #mnwx

Clouds are typically colder than land, and thus stand out well on Infrared Satellite imagery. Not so this morning! Only the few moving objects in this loop are clouds... the rest is very cold ground (other than portions of the relatively warm Missouri River)! #sdwx  #mnwx

Historic springtime snowstorm will bring widespread heavy snow and blizzard conditions today through Friday morning. The strongest winds will occur tonight through Thursday night.

Today is different then your typical severe weather day. Storms will start early in the afternoon. They will be intense. They will be moving fast. Hail larger than golf balls, winds in excess of 75 mph and multiple tornadoes are possible. Take the time to prepare now!
