France had already made the pledge. Today all the countries of the G20 affirmed their resolve to take action to limit the temperature rise to 1.5°C. This was the most ambitious target that we established in Paris in 2015. This is progress! Next step: tomorrow at #COP26  .

The #COP26  will succeed if the countries with the most resources mobilise 100 billion dollars to support the transition of the countries who have less. France is doing its share, dedicating 7 billion annually to this transition around the globe.

The #COP26  will succeed if the protection of nature, our essential ally against climate disruption, is genuinely enhanced. In France, 30% of our territory is to be protected as of early 2022. I call on our partners to take action to safeguard our vital heritage.

Yes, the #COP26  will succeed if we, States and organisations, do everything in our power to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 with clear, concrete plans of action. Let us all make this commitment. The time for action is now, not tomorrow.

To accelerate vaccination; to stop restricting the export of doses; to have vaccine production on every continent: these were our three messages at the G20 for defeating the pandemic.

Limiting energy price volatility entails meaningful dialogue between producer and consumer countries. At the G20, we have set ourselves three objectives: securing access to energy, committing our economies to a green transition and supporting the most vulnerable.

In the run-up to #COP26 , the G20 countries are making commitments:

The G20 countries are reaffirming their commitment to achieving annual climate finance totalling 100 billion dollars. They commit to supporting the energy transition and ridding their economies of coal for good. This is progress!

The G20 countries are announcing the end of international funding for coal-fired power plants as of this year. This is historic. We are rising to this challenge!

Our house is burning. Literally. The Amazon rain forest - the lungs which produces 20% of our planet’s oxygen - is on fire. It is an international crisis. Members of the G7 Summit, let's discuss this emergency first order in two days! #ActForTheAmazon

The Americans have chosen their President. Congratulations @JoeBiden  and @KamalaHarris ! We have a lot to do to overcome today’s challenges. Let's work together!

To @JoeBiden  and @KamalaHarris . Best wishes on this most significant day for the American people! We are together. We will be stronger to face the challenges of our time. Stronger to build our future. Stronger to protect our planet. Welcome back to the Paris Agreement!

We will not give in, ever. We respect all differences in a spirit of peace. We do not accept hate speech and defend reasonable debate. We will always be on the side of human dignity and universal values.

I spoke to @JoeBiden  to congratulate him on his election. We’ll have a lot to do together to promote shared priorities - climate, global health, international security - and effective multilateral action.

Now that we are together, united, determined to make a difference, it's time to deliver. I'm sure we will, @JoeBiden !

Azerbaijani armed forces have crossed into Armenian territory. They must withdraw immediately. I say again to the Armenian people: France stands with you in solidarity and will continue to do so.

Let’s keep defending our progressive values. Thank you for this discussion @BarackObama .
