According to estimates cited by the senators, Ticketmaster controls the ticketing at 70 to 80 percent of major concert venues in the U.S. Live Nation’s Joe Berchtold estimated 50 to 60 percent, and attributed its market share to the quality of its product.

The current get-in price for the Super Bowl sits at just under $6,000, with prices reaching a high of $25,000, according to Ticketmaster, the NFL's official ticket-selling website.

It took twenty years of Google operating a ad monopoly which included illegally "tying" different products, and massive fraud to get attention of the federal government. It took Ticketmaster one botched Taylor Swift tour to get a televised congressional hearing.

What is going on with Ticketmaster is an example of why we need strong antitrust enforcement! Monopolies wreak havoc on consumers and our economy. When there is no competition to incentivize better services and fair prices, we all suffer the consequences.
