As the Caldor fire grows to more than 200,000 acres, one solution to keeping it from entering populated areas may be to direct it straight into the path of another blaze: the Tamarack fire.

A wildfire south of Lake Tahoe in California quickly expanded over the weekend, jumping a highway and prompting a wave of evacuations. The Tamarack Fire, which started on July 4, is one of several fires burning across the state.

The Tamarack Fire near Markleeville, California, continues to rage as of Saturday across 6,600 acres. 75 fire personnel are attempting to prevent it from spreading, but it is currently 0% contained.
