I know it's easy for Americans to feel self-satisfied now, as we help lead the way on vaccines. But South Korea showed what you can do if you're prepared for a pandemic in advance. Look at the first waves. There is no comparison:

I just checked. While the U.S. and South Korea had their first Covid-19 cases and deaths in February, more than 225,000 Americans have died from the virus since then. South Korea, a country of 55 million, has had fewer than 500 deaths. They controlled the virus. The U.S. didn't.

1 in every 1,000 Americans has died from Covid-19. Meanwhile, in South Korea, it’s 1 of every 65,000. Our government has failed us.
Another 1,029 Americans died yesterday from coronavirus. Some perspective: In mid-March, the U.S. & South Korea each had approximately 90 deaths. The U.S. now has 169,754 deaths. South Korea, with a population of 52 million, has 305.
South Korea and the US had their first reported case on the same day. Today, South Korea has reduced daily cases by 90%. In the US, 70,000 Americans have died and unemployment has hit 14.7%. The difference: competent government that heeds experts. Vote for that in November.
