A bill led by Virginia Republicans that would have banned abortions after 15-weeks of pregnancy failed on Wednesday evening.
This comes after Kansas voters made it abundantly clear that they don’t want abortion restrictions. Republicans across multiple states have been looking for ways to pass bans despite voter wishes, or to prevent voters from passing pro-choice ballot measures.
Kansas Republicans introduced a bill that would make abortion and IVF punishable by 20 years in prison. Lawmakers also struck out language allowing abortion in medical emergencies.
