I would like to see a new chapter in the campaign for gun control in the U.S. It begins with leadership at the top. The president should deliver a speech and in it he should lay out the problem. He should offer up the data demonstrating that we are an outlier nation on guns.

He should then go to Congress with the package and get a vote on every item. He should appoint the Vice President to lead a nationwide effort to work with states to strengthen state gun control laws and to enhance state-federal cooperation.
