Look carefully at what Twitter is saying to justify censoring the Biden story. If applied consistently, it’d mean that some of history’s most consequential journalism — the Pentagon Papers, WikiLeaks’ war logs, Snowden docs, Panama Papers, our Brazil Archive — would be banned.

Separate from any considerations about collusion or disinformation or whatever else it would be really bad if intelligence agencies just started routinely dumping tons and tons of stolen private correspondence on the internet on the theory that it’s Pentagon Papers Redux.

50 years go, when Daniel Ellsberg gave the Pentagon Papers to the NYT, Kissinger and HR Haldeman, on Nixon’s orders, spread the rumor he was a Russian spy acting for the Kremlin. This is the playbook the CIA has been using for decades - but now liberals & the media are on board.

@RoKhannaU  @ggreenwaldSA  Reporters shouldn't/can't participate or encourage anything like that, but if people take it upon themselves to acquire the information to get it to the public, that's different. The Pentagon Papers were quite literally stolen from the RAND Corporation, in actual black bags

The modern media is built on the legend of the Pentagon Papers. This is so dumb

I lived through Pentagon Papers and Watergate, Iran Contra and Whitewater and more but 1st time in my life seeing Press trying to keep lid on govt actions rather than fully expose. They hate THAT much. More than they love truth. Sad. Journalism is dead.

The Trump whistleblower is in "personal danger," says Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg. "As for the President's words, if that isn't intimidation of a witness, I don't know what would be," he adds, responding to Trump's "almost a spy" remark

New documents show how the head of the CIA secretly helped to smear the Pentagon Papers whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg as a Russian agent.

Waiting for media people to explain why they thought it was so courageous for NY Times and WAPO to release the Pentagon Papers in 1971, but aren't demanding that info from House Cmte be released to let us know if FBI and DOJ have lied and abused power. Please explain!

If the Nunes memo is released, Congressman Schiff and other members of Congress should read the Schiff report and all other underlying documents on the House floor—just like Senator Gravel read the Pentagon Papers into the record in 1971. It's their constitutional right—and duty.

Imagine the Pentagon Papers, but instead of the actual papers, Ellsberg released a memo describing what was in the Pentagon Papers WITHOUT HAVING ACTUALLY READ THE PENTAGON PAPERS.
