Finland's Nato prospects looking brighter, president says

The Lithuanian representative argues that leaving Lithuania to be the sole veto against a relaxing of restrictions against Russia will undoubtedly lead to Moscow directing all its ire on Vilnius. Signs that EU unity on punishing Russia already starting to fragment ahead of Nato?

In plans NATOSecretary-General Jens Stoltenberg described as “the biggest overhaul of our collective defence and deterrence since the Cold War,” the alliance will boost its high-readiness forces to more than 300,000 troops.

Around 250 peace activists demonstrated outside Ramstein Air Base to protest Western support of the war in Ukraine, German rearmament and the NATO summit in Madrid.

NATO’s leader said the move is part of the “biggest overhaul of collective defense and deterrence since the Cold War.”

BRUSSELS (AP) -- NATO chief says alliance aims to boost rapid reaction force numbers from the current 40,000 to over 300,000.

NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg said Monday that the military alliance will increase the size of its rapid reaction forces nearly eightfold to 300,000 troops as part of its response to an "era of strategic competition."

Putin has now made it crystal clear. His invasion of Ukraine was never about NATO expansion, and always about Russian expansion.

The best way to avoid a conflict between NATO and Russia in the future is to help Ukraine stop Putins killing machine in Ukraine now. It is really that simple. A Putin loss in Ukraine makes conflict with NATO less likely. A Putin win makes conflict with NATO more likely.

Zelensky just now: “Never, please, never tell us again that our army does not meet NATO standards. We have shown what our standards are capable of.”

Please NATO leaders, send all MIG fighter jets that we have -- 70 altogether, 27 alone in Poland -- to Ukraine right now. NOW! And once Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, and Slovakia send these planes, other NATO countries should send air reinforcements to these frontline states.

This happens at every NATO summit with Trump. Every G7. Every G20. The US President is mocked by US allies behind his back.

Emmanuel Macron suggests building its own army to protect Europe against the U.S., China and Russia. But it was Germany in World Wars One & Two - How did that work out for France? They were starting to learn German in Paris before the U.S. came along. Pay for NATO or not!

....Germany pays 1% (slowly) of GDP towards NATO, while we pay 4% of a MUCH larger GDP. Does anybody believe that makes sense? We protect Europe (which is good) at great financial loss, and then get unfairly clobbered on Trade. Change is coming!

President Macron of France has just suggested that Europe build its own military in order to protect itself from the U.S., China and Russia. Very insulting, but perhaps Europe should first pay its fair share of NATO, which the U.S. subsidizes greatly!

Jens Stoltenberg, NATOSecretary General, just stated that because of me NATO has been able to raise far more money than ever before from its members after many years of decline. It’s called burden sharing. Also, more united. Dems & Fake News like to portray the opposite!
