As someone who has been audited by the IRS twice, all of this "If you did nothing wrong, it's no big deal" stuff is infuriating. 1/

Yes, the IRS needs to be able to audit people, but you shouldn't pretend that one of the biggest invasions of privacy imaginable by the federal government is fine, fun, or cost-free if you've "done nothing wrong." Particularly if you haven't been audited yourself. 5/5

Sen. Lindsey Graham warned that the so-called "Inflation Reduction Act" will mean IRS agents coming after "waitresses, Uber drivers and everybody else to collect more taxes."

I'm obviously in my own little silo on this but the GOP attempt to make The 87,000 New IRSAgents thing sound scary just doesn't seem very convincing. We're still a year or so from them getting it together to come out and say "white-collar crime is what keeps America strong."

The Army is already the smallest it has been since 1940. But don't worry, Biden's IRS is ready to audit everyday Americans.

Beefing up IRS enforcement is good, actually. Collecting all unpaid federal income taxes from the richest 1 percent would generate an estimated $1,750,000,000,000 over a decade.

A right-wing think tank is now a church in the eyes of the IRS. It’s part of a growing movement of activist groups that are seeking church status. And it’s all perfectly legal. Here’s how 👇

This IRS story is a grave and serious issue. It could strike at the very heart of power and the rule of law. There are many questions and speculations. We need answers. Wherever they may lead.

Holy Shit!!! The Democrats insane. You lost your business, your job, family members whose funerals you couldn’t attend. The IRS wants to audit you if you had $600 in your bank account the government gave you $2000, but if you’re inconvenienced coming here illegally $450,000 EACH!

One reason we should fully fund the IRS: Collecting all unpaid federal income taxes from the richest 1 percent would generate an estimated $1,750,000,000,000 over a decade.

@SawyerMerritt  Will visit IRS next time I’m in DC just to say hi, since I paid the most taxes ever in history for an individual last year. Maybe I can have a cookie or something …

Today I’m calling on the IRS to move our tax filing deadline from April 15 to July 15, and to waive any interest and fees for late payment. This will allow those who owe money not to have to send it during our current situation.
