Joe Biden name-checked "white nationalists" once, "white supremacists" once, "right-wing militias" twice and "armed militias" once in his supposedly unifying anti-violence speech yesterday. He did not mention Antifa or BLM. This is gaslighting and cowardice.

"Gaslighting" is a type of psychological abuse, where a person is presented with so much false information; they begin to doubt their own memory and perception. The abuser's goal is to make the other person believe they're "crazy."

The vile media mischaracterization of Trump's July 4 speech is extraordinary gaslighting. The speech wasn't dark. And it wasn't "out of nowhere" or "aggressive." It was prompted by weeks of rioting, looting, tearing down monuments, and lying about Americans both dead and alive.

The gaslighting is always so exhausting. We all know what the President did and who he is. Everyone. On all sides. We all get it. Just a question of whether you find it acceptable or not.

Trump again gaslighting on protests saying the demonstrators are practicing social distancing. They aren’t.

The president isn't a comedian working out new material on the road. He knows that, we know that. He can apologize for speaking recklessly, or he can regret it quietly, but the media should not participate in a national gaslighting.

Here's the thing-- Mitch McConnell is gaslighting us. Republicans rammed through a bill to give huge tax breaks to corporations and the mega-rich, and now they're using its consequences as an excuse to propose cuts to Medicare and Medicaid. It's all part of the GOP fever dream.

It is not said enough just what a horrible person the President is (we often focus on the lying, the gaslighting, the bigotry). But his cruelty at every turn doesn’t get highlighted enough. Strange to want to be President for a third of the country—and screw the rest.
