David Dimbleby has said he is considering a bid to become the next chairman of the BBC. The former Question Time host told BBC Newscast he "still might" apply for the role "depending on who comes forward", after ex-Telegraph editor Charles Moore pulled out of the running.

So that’s 30 years then, but if Paul Dacre and Charles Moore take those jobs we’re unlikely to see another five, and nor is the BBC.

BBC executives were choking on their muesli when it was reported that I was in the running to be next Chairman of the BBC. I have no interest in the job. But now the Daily Mail is reporting Charles Moore is favourite for the post, I expect BBC to be begging me to take it.
