Cori Bush, a nurse and Black Lives Matter Activist, is projected by the AP to win a Democratic primary in Missouri, ousting William Lacy Clay, a longtime incumbent. Clay, who succeeded his father, has represented the 1st District since 2001.

An activist for racial justice and a single mother, Cori Bush would be the first Black woman to represent the state of Missouri in Congress if she wins the election in November. Her win upset one of the most enduring Democratic dynasties in the country.
