Antarctica researchers have uncovered a world teeming with life under the Brunt Ice Shelf
It's a week on from the calving of iceberg #A74 from the Brunt Ice Shelf in Antarctica. I thought I'd share some beautiful images of the North Rift, which precipitated the breakaway. This was taken the day after calving, ie 27 Feb. The gap is ~2km. © Vision-1@AirbusDS_GEO

An iceberg twice the size of NYC is about to break from Antarctica. NASA says it will be the biggest piece to break from the Brunt Ice Shelf since 1915 and could cause the entire shelf to "become unstable or break up."
Cracking across Antarctica’s Brunt Ice Shelf is set to release an iceberg w/ an area about 2x the size of NYC. The splitting could result in an uncertain future for the shelf’s scientific research & human presence. See what satellites captured:
Ice shelf twice the size of New York City is about to break off from Antarctica. Scientists worry that the loss will trigger the Brunt Ice Shelf to become unstable or break up.
