In 1999 Chuck Schumer was opposed to calling witnesses in a Senate impeachment trial... "This idea that they didn't have to call witnesses in the House and they should call them in the Senate doesn't make sense." What changed, Chuck? 🤔

Easy to see how much worse off our political institutions -- like the US Senate -- are today. In Clinton's impeachment trial in 1999, Trent Lott and Tom Daschle came together to unanimously pass the rules of the road for that trial. Today? It's the exact opposite.
