In a statement the publishers of @nytimes , @WSJ  and @washingtonpost  said: “The media is collateral damage in a diplomatic dispute between the Chinese and U.S. governments, threatening to deprive the world of critical information at a perilous moment.”

ICYMI: SPJ is outraged by the expelling of U.S. journalists from China, a country where the need for independent press is paramount, especially during the current coronavirus pandemic. We urge Beijing to reverse this decision.

This is repugnant. Journalism is protected by the U.S. Constitution. Journalists must not be intimidated, attacked or harassed for doing their job.

SPJ, @aaja  @NABJ  @naja  and @NAHJ  are outraged over reports on Tuesday that the Minnesota state police threatened to arrest journalists covering the protests if they did not leave. This growing nationwide trend among law enforcement agencies is unacceptable. #PressFreedom
