@dougducey  speaking at Pence's Mesa event now. Says Trump & Pence have been partners to AZ during the #COVID19  crisis. 'Whenever we needed anything, from PPE to ventilators to surge capacity on the Navajo Nation to testing & more, this administration has been there to help.'

Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee @JoeBiden  questioned recent praise of Arizona as a national leader in #COVID19  containment this morning, prompting a sharp rebuke from Gov. @dougducey . Which politician got his numbers right?

NEW: @AZDHS , Gov @dougducey 's office release new benchmarks for shuttered businesses (gyms, bars, movie theaters, night clubs) that want to reopen. Process will depend on a county's level of community #COVID19  spread.

Thoughtful, representative coverage of marginalized groups. Newsroom ranks that reflect our communities. Transparency when it comes to pay, promotions, hiring. 60+ @azcentral  journos signed this letter showing how we can get there. We hope you will, too.

'On behalf of our entire state, I have a message for every man and woman in law enforcement: You are heroes,' @dougducey  says.

'It's incredibly refreshing to actually experience a federal govt that listens to the states instead of making things harder. I've got a clear line of communication with VP Pence and Pres Trump,' @dougducey  says. 'Just know that AZ's wants, needs and concerns are being heard.'

'My ask today is: Keep doing what you're doing. We need to say the course here. It's making a big difference for our state,' @dougducey  says.

Asked (once again) about unemployment benefits, @dougducey  says: 'We're crunching the numbers. and we will have an announcement on this on Friday.'

I am legitimately confused by today's announcement, because these restaurant rules @dougducey  rolled out a few weeks ago indicate restaurants should already be limiting capacity to less than 50% of permitted fire code capacity. Am I missing something?

BREAKING: @dougducey  says he will issue executive order 'pausing' operation of bars, gyms, movie theaters, water parks and tubing. Targeted reopening date: 30 days from now.

AZ Director of Emergency Mgmt Wendy Smith-Reeve has resigned, per Gov's Office. In email accompanying resignation letter, she wrote that it was 'clear that my role is being addressed by the Governor's staff & (the health dept) which means my presence and function is duplicative.'

In Arizona, it can take hours to get a #COVID19  test and a wk-plus to get results. The percentage of positive tests is sky-high. Contact tracers can't keep up with cases, and hospitals are stretched thin. Epidemiologists say it didn't have to be this way.

BREAKING: Executive order shuttering bars, gyms, clubs, water parks, tubing will be extended, @dougducey  says.

Arizona could need 13,000 more hospital beds and 1,500 more ICU beds based on current #COVID19  trajectory, @drcarachrist  says. That's on top of current 16,000 beds and 1,500 beds. Expects illness to peak in April, hospitalizations to peak in May.

'He @dougducey ) presents PowerPoint presentations. What is not being demonstrated to the public is how their actions will actually bend the curve,' @wendysmithreev1 , Arizona's former emergency management director, tells @Slate :

NEW: Gov @dougducey  has issued an executive order delaying enforcement of eviction orders for renters affected by #COVID19 . It applies to renters who are 'quarantining due to COVID-19' or 'facing economic hardship as a result of the outbreak.' Will remain in effect for 120 days.
