One on my favourite collaborations has been producing Vashti Bunyan’s Lookaftering. Kieran Evans’ thoughtful film tells Vashti’s extraordinary story. A beautiful window into the mind of a unique artist. @kierboyo @ambobdim @FatCatRecords Watch here:
Weekly update to my kitchen playlist: Messaien reaches for transcendence from Stalag VIII-A in 1940, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith coaxes space dust from her Buchlas, Bill Evans proves that less is more. Stay safe!
Orlando - I started to think about the similarities with variation form - the musical process where a recognisable theme is transformed and re-ordered to reveal new aspects of its character and chose this process of variation as the basis of the music.
There is no wrong way to listen to SLEEP. It is an invitation to pause and reflect on our lives. Thank you for joining us tonight for this broadcast happening around the world and thank you @BBCRadio3 & @EBU_HQ for helping to make this happen.

Performing SLEEP is a marathon. Normally it takes me a week to change my body clock around so that I can make it through the night. Getting through the eight hours is a zen practice really, I can’t afford to let my mind wonder or think about how many hours of playing are ahead...
It takes a week to recover from a SLEEP performance, but anyone that has been to a show will know how special these occasions are. I feel a connection to the audience that's impossible to replicate at a normal concert. It's incredibly hard to perform SLEEP, but it is SO worth it.
