Many people have contacted me to help Allia. From Chromebooks to money to virtual violin lessons. Her mother has declined. She wants the Department of Education to deliver a device as promised. "I want to hold them to that for my daughter and every other child like my daughter."

As the number of people recommended to gather in one place continues to shrink, shelter providers are going to have to rethink congregate settings. In New York, there are about 100 shelters for single adults and most of them are dormitory-style sleeping with shared bathrooms.

Thousands of NYC students in homeless shelters and overcrowded apartments do not have laptops, iPads. If they do, they do not have access to internet. The solution? Give them web-enabled devices. On Day 4 of remote learning, students do not have them. ETA?

The CDC says homeless encampments should not be broken up in the pandemic. But fliers went up and were distributed warning homeless people to pack up any belongings from 34th St, btwn 7th and 8 aves. Advocates are asking why. Story in our live briefing.
