I keep thinking about this thing I saw on Instagram. Everyone is really on their own journey.

Being able to tell the difference between people who a) are actually being disrespectful/unkind b) for whatever reason, don't know how to talk to people; and c ) simply have bad energy is a really helpful life skill

I've thought about this more, and it's still weird and pointless BUT I do enjoy that it will make all the right people miserable. Silver linings.

What's a thing you once really liked, backed off from because it was uncool or frowned upon, and now love again? Mine is ranch dressing.

I guess now when people look at me with pity in their eyes and ask how I survive living somewhere so boring, in addition to saying "It works because I'm also boring" I can mention that I heard exactly one firework in 2020

If you're like me and enjoy taking breaks from disturbing stuff that people are talking about with different disturbing stuff that people aren't talking about, this podcast is very good

Joel has weighed in on the Hamilton debate: “I don’t know ... I’m not sure if I could pay attention to people singing the whole time.”

"He would give law enforcement officers free meals." And they killed him. Do me a favor and never talk about how "we just need black communities police to understand each other better" again. Thanks.

"Our old neighbor came in and said, 'There’s a black man stealing your van. He’s behind the wheel right now.' I paused a minute and realized he was referring to Merlin. Bells went off." OH MY GOD THIS STORY

I have no doubt that he's a lovely person and a great teacher. But if an adult putting a hair tie on a child of a different color who's in his care is all it takes to "warm the hearts of millions," we're really not gonna make it.

10 words and all my “where the hell were you before it was cool” feelings melted away (h/t @ebenet )

Are there headline awards? I would like to nominate one.

Do you ever just sit and think about how NFL players totally peacefully kneeling in the gentlest possible expression of despair over the fact that police officers keep killing black people for no reason is *controversial*? It feels normal now but it's nothing short of disgusting

Who at NPR will volunteer to tell my 74-year-old mother who just got over breast cancer that yes, it's worse than a flu & she doesn't need to be going to book clubs all over town & water aerobics & Costco for no reason? She won't listen to me but she'll listen to you. Only you.

There's no way to be at a protest, no matter how peacefully, and guarantee that you'll be safe right now. I can't believe how brave people are.

Did anyone else spend their childhood believing that cutting these things up so sea turtles(?) wouldn’t get caught in them was the most urgent work on earth?

Is it divisive to want to start a new country with just the people who love Elizabeth Warren?
