#DCsBravest responded to 567 calls on Saturday, June 19th. There were 165 critical and 310 non-critical EMS dispatches, and 92 fire related incidents and other types of emergencies.

Another dangerously hot day in the District. #DCsBravest  want you to stay hydrated. Water, water, water! Follow these other hot weather tips as well.

1 Alarm fire 2300 block 14th St NW. Units on a smoke investigation located an apartment fire contained by activated sprinkler system. Additional units requested while they check for extension. No injuries. Sprinklers save lives and property.

Certain fireworks are legal in DC. Anything that explodes or flies IS NOT. District residents should only purchase fireworks from a licensed vendor at a legal stand. They are carefully monitored by #DCsBravest  fire inspectors. Report illegal sales or use at fireworks.fem @dc .gov.

Hazmat incident Costco 2441 Market St NE. #DCsBravest  responded for smoke in building & located refrigerant leak. Leak has been mitigated by Hazmat unit. No injuries or ill effects.

Children from @AidanMontessori  taking the opportunity to visit #DCsBravest  Engine 21 in Adams Morgan to learn about the work of our firefighters and EMS personnel.

Our Rehab Unit is responsible for firefighter health and safety at fire incidents. #DCsBravest  kicked off #SafetyStandownWeek  by honoring the members who work on the Rehab Unit, providing hydration and cooling. These are some of 64 members being recognized across the Department.

#DCsBravest were operating at a fire in the 4000 block of South Capitol St SE when 2 dogs began attacking civilians outside. Firefighters from Truck 8 threw their bodies on the animals to hold them down and prevent further attacks pending @DCPoliceDept  arrival.

Box Alarm 1525 H St NW. #DCsBravest  had fire in basement of church. Fire extinguishing. Checking for extension.

#DCsBravest responded to an outside fire in the 100 block of H St SE that has been extinguished. There were no injuries. This accounts for smoke that many have seen.

#DCsBravest were grateful to host 7 year old Reagan and her family, along with @DCPoliceDept , for a reunion at Engine 27. She is doing well after she was shot over the weekend. "I'm thankful that those people were on that shift and helped save my baby's life," her mom said.

Shortly after midnight, #DCsBravest  received a call for a report of 2 military personnel suffering the effects of a nearby lighting strike within the Lafayette Park perimeter. Both were transported with non life threatening injuries.

Water rescue 600 block R.I. Ave NE. Several vehicles submerged in underpass beneath the RR tracks. Awaiting arrival of zodiac boat to check on any occupants.

After declining the vaccine, Capt. Joe Boling caught COVID-19. He spent 6 days in the hospital with a severe respiratory infection, and is still in recovery. Today, he regrets not getting the shot. He shares his story to encourage all of #DCsBravest  to #GetVaccinated .

Update outside fire 100 block of H St SE. Fire involved a homeless tent beneath freeway. #DCsBravest  quickly extinguished fire. Occupant indicated she was using propane, which may explain report of “explosion “. 1 individual with non life threatening injury.
