Hey @BenFordham  Congratulations on the new job! Seems like yesterday we were logging betacams in Scott St ... circa 1999

Playing Scrabble & discover, curtesy of miss 12, that wiry has no “e” and I’m like 🤯

.. I didn’t hear you complain when @BarackObama  was all about the pivot to Asia in 2012 ....

Worth noting that the boys at Waverley College returned to in-class learning a week before most other schools. The year7 student who tested positive would have been on campus all of last week.

I do miss this about living in the UK - Heatwave headlines when the gauge passes 25C 😆

Reporter: Is it about time elderly took a hit to cushion economic blow being felt by the younger generation (cos, you know, the older generation have never experienced a crisis) The answer to this crisis is not to pit one group of Australians against another - @ScottMorrisonMP

A thread about the size of government. Since we won't have a Federal Budget to pore over until October it will be interesting to see projections for "payments (spending) as a proportion of gdp" Let's consider how the size of government has changed with successive governments 1/3

In 2018/19 payments as a percentage of GDP were 24.9% which is historically on the high end which is interesting for a government that prides itself on spending restraint. In 2013/14 it was 25.6% 2/3

Rudd/Gillard High: 26.0% 2009/10 Low: 23.1% 2007/08 Howard High: 25.1% 1996/97 & 2000/01 Low: 23.3% 2006/07 Hawke/Keating High: 27.6% 1984/85 Low 22.90% 1989/90

I’m on assignment in Italy where 500,000 people arrived by boat since 2015. Every one of those “irregular migrants” as they call them here, is automatically entitled to free healthcare whether or not their claim for residency is ultimately successful. Compassion is in their DNA

Victoria recorded 90,000 family violence offences in 2017. Family violence accounts for 17.5% of all crime in the state. One woman a week in Australia dies at the hands of a current or former intimate partner. What crime is "out of control"? Family violence is "out of control"

Remember when people were saying the country couldn’t afford super fast broadband cos the only thing they could imagine it ever being used for was downloading movies? 👨‍🎓 🏫 📖 📚 🤓 👩‍🎓 🎻

If the “job keeper” allowance is only for full time workers then the bulk of those who miss out will be women. Women constitute 37.7% of all full-time employees and 68.2% of all part-time employees

After a forensic review, my analysis from February of the link between corporate tax cuts & wages growth was found to have ZERO errors. Facts matter #qanda

How are businesses that don't pay corporate tax able to commit to hiring more people and lifting wages if the corporate tax rate goes down?

Maybe the answer is not to allow the country's most vulnerable - children and the elderly - to be the subject of for-profit enterprise. "The market" is driven by money not compassion
