#OTD in 2015, @NASA 's Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity completed its first marathon – 26.219 miles (42.195 kilometers) – with a finish time of roughly 11 years and two months. I look forward to the day when Americans cross a finish line on the Red Planet!

How is everyone spending their quarantine time? After Apollo 11, I spent mine inside a secure building, the Lunar Receiving Laboratory, for 3 weeks - writing mission reports, conducting debriefs & exercising! Show me how you’re staying safe from COVID-19. #StayingSafeWithBuzz

#OTD in 1965, Gemini III lifted off Launch Pad 19. The spacecraft named "Molly Brown" carried astronauts Gus Grissom and John Young on three orbits of Earth. It was considered a success despite a few thruster issues and the sudden appearance of a contraband corned beef sandwich!

50 years ago today, Neil Armstrong, Mike Collins and I launched into space on a mission of enormous importance. God bless the 400,000 Americans who helped us get to the moon and back. Together, we Americans can do anything! Never forget July 16, 1969! #Apollo50

Looking back, landing on the moon wasn’t just our job, it was a historic opportunity to prove to the world America’s can-do spirit. I’m proud to serve the country that gave me this historic opportunity. Today belongs to you. We must hold the memory of #Apollo11  close. #Apollo50th

47 years ago I submitted my travel voucher reimbursement for my trip to the moon. #Apollo11

Today, America put the big question to rest: We got there first. We landed on the moon with 250 million Americans watching our backs. The truth is: That mission belongs to all of them, and to future generations of Americans who dream to reach the moon once more. #Apollo50th

When Neil took this pic of me it was very spontaneous. He said "stop right there" & I turned. You can see the motion of the strap #Apollo11
