As an immigrant—one of 14 in Congress—I've never taken my citizenship for granted. When I took my oath of citizenship in 2000, I felt a huge responsibility to organize for a better tomorrow, one in which everyone is treated fairly & able to succeed—for themselves & this country.

Make no mistake: one of the many ways our country has silenced Black voices and suppressed Black votes has been by preventing DC statehood. DC should be a state with two Senators and full representation in the House. Congress must act now.

Absolutely horrific. A peaceful elderly man is pushed to the ground by cops, hits head & starts bleeding out of his ear. This is an autocratic frenzy from law enforcement w/extreme violence in incident after incident against peaceful protestors. STOP.

This is no accident. Black and brown people have been kept out of our elections—100% on purpose and by design. We must end racist voter suppression efforts, restore and expand voting rights, and build a Democracy that ensures every voice is heard.

Don’t you have a bunker to be in?

We have now lost more American lives from COVID-19 than we did during the first World War. This public health crisis has caused unprecedented economic devastation too. We still have the opportunity to respond at the scale necessary. But we must be bold and we must act right now.

It has been nearly four months since police officers murdered Breonna Taylor as she was sleeping. It is long overdue that her killers be brought to justice.
