This #LaborDay , we recognize the hard-fought achievements of America’s labor movement and honor those who risked everything to fight for better working conditions. I won’t stop fighting to protect the right to organize and make sure every American has access to good-paying jobs.

More than 3.5 million seniors and people with disabilities rely on #Medicaid  home and community-based services to live in their homes with independence and dignity. The #BetterCareBetterJobs  Act would expand these vital services and raise wages for essential home care workers.

Shanah Tovah to those celebrating #RoshHashanah  in #IL01  and across the world this evening. Wishing you and your loved ones a sweet and happy New Year! 🍎🍯

This is serious. Get vaccinated. Don’t throw away a shot that could save your life.

A pathway to citizenship would keep millions of families together. It would boost state economies by billions and increase GDP by $1.5 trillion over 10 years. And it's supported by voters from across the political spectrum. This is the year we must get it done. #WeAreHome

✔️A Clean Electricity Performance Program ✔️$13.5 billion for EV infrastructure ✔️Electric transmission ✔️Funds for home energy efficiency Individually, each of the #energy  & #environment  provisions in the #BuildBackBetter  Act is worthwhile. Together, they are transformative.

The wealthy don’t need another tax cut — the middle class does. It’s about time that working people get the tax cut they deserve. It's time to #BuildBackBetter .

The sheer cruelty of this policy is heartbreaking and unacceptable. Sending thousands of migrants back to Haiti at this time is not only dangerous—it is morally reprehensible. I am calling on the Biden Administration to halt these deportations immediately.

The harrowing images of Border Patrol agents rounding up Haitian migrants evoke some of the cruelest days in our nation’s history. This treatment is outrageous and unconscionable. As my late colleague Elijah Cummings often said: We are better than this.

In 2012, I wore a hoodie on the House Floor to make a statement about the deadly consequences of racial profiling. On Wednesday, @Rep_Matt_Gaetz  wore a gas mask in the chamber, making light of an epidemic that has killed 14 Americans. Guess which one of us was forcibly removed.

When the photo from Emmett Till’s funeral ran in Jet, I will never forget how my mother gathered us around the table and said, "this is why I brought my boys out of the South." Emmett Till would have turned 80 today. In his name, we must get the #AntilynchingAct  passed into law.

Double standards aside, the coronavirus is not a joke and the thousands of deaths worldwide are not to be taken lightly. The @CDCgov  has laid out a number of preventative measures we can take to stop the spread of this deadly disease—no gas mask required:

There is no "both sides" to this issue. Rush Limbaugh is a racist who uses his platform to inspire other racists. Rewarding him with a #MedalOfFreedom  is a slap in the face to every person who ACTUALLY deserved that honor.

One is a rock, and the other is A GUN. That’s the difference you imbecile.

Looking out of my window, I don’t see protestors. I see Trump-inspired rioters. How were these lawbreakers allowed to shut down the US Congress? If they had been Black or Brown, there would be a far different portrayal. Media stop calling this a protest, this is a riot, clearly!

@repjohnlewis  was a superb man and incalculable contributor to the history of our nation. A man who rose from humble beginnings to become an American icon.

Years ago they might have used a rope and tree but today all they need is a cop and his knee. The methods may have changed but the objective is the same: intimidation through racially motivated violence. @senatemajldr , PASS THE EMMETT TILL ANTILYNCHING ACT!
