Strong to severe storms with winds in excess of 50 mph are expected to move southeast through the region this evening.
Here's a look at the evening storms from one of our forecast models. It may be about an hour slow, but it shows the southeastward progression of a broken line of thunderstorms through the area. Strong wind gusts will be the primary concern, in addition to lightning & heavy rain.
Today marks the 93rd anniversary of the infamous Tri-State Tornado, which ripped a 219 mile path of destruction across southeast Missouri, southern Illinois, and southwest Indiana. The tornado killed 695 people, the deadliest tornado in American history.
