Even before this pandemic, two-thirds of low-income workers did not have paid sick leave. Nearly half of Americans were a $400 unexpected expense away from financial hardship. A one-time check won’t cut it. I’m staying in D.C. fighting for monthly cash payments and paid leave.

I close today with a very heavy heart. I ache for my country and all those in pain. I rage at a national leadership bereft of empathy and the minimal instincts of de escalation. May tomorrow shine its light upon a path towards love, peace, and most importantly, justice.

Just in from @JoeBiden : “We are a nation in pain, but we must not allow this pain to destroy us. We are a nation enraged, but we cannot allow our rage to consume us. We are a nation exhausted, but we will not allow our exhaustion to defeat us.”

More than 100,000 Americans dead, the highest unemployment since the Depression, America in flames, the National Guard deployed. Make America Great Again was a sick hoax.

I don’t pretend to understand what it’s like to run a news org. But most of tonight’s coverage — across most stations — is focused on violence. Yet thousands in each city are marching peacefully for #GeorgeFloyd . Why not interview the peaceful protestors? They should be heard.

If you’re mad, if you’re distraught, if you’re angry, if you’re hurting: fight back against the system that killed George Floyd, don’t destroy our communities and neighborhoods. They want to see us burn. Don’t do their work for them. We have to build. We have to survive. 2/2

If only our political elites responded to black & brown Americans demanding basic rights as quickly as they respond to billionaires demanding tax cuts.

During #MannKiBaat  and on other platforms as well as occasions, India has repeatedly expressed gratitude to those at the forefront of battling COVID-19. #MannKiBaat
