Hong Kongers demonstrated peacefully for decades and were simply ignored by their leaders. When some chose violence their leaders dismissed the entire movement as terrorists and separatists. They literally cannot win either way.

Am particularly enjoying the following Twitter logic this morning. Police in [Jurisdiction A] have done something bad. So you can't criticise police in [Jurisdiction B], they're no way as bad.

Video circulating on Telegram channels today shows Hong Kong riot police firing a tear gas canister from a moving police van directly at local residents who were heckling them as they left Tsuen Wan.

Difficult to put into words the scenes we saw today as New Zealand marked the one week anniversary of the #Christchurch  mosque massacres. For me it’s this photo I took shortly after prayers ended — to me it sums up how the nation has responded to the gunman’s race hatred ?? ?

I’m not ashamed to admit I wept at this scene tonight — Christchurch locals forming a human chain behind Muslims as they perform maghrib prayers in front of the Al Noor mosque, where so many died. It was utterly beautiful
