Last year, I went to visit Paul Volcker for his last major interview in @nytimes . When I walked in, he said “I’m not good.” He died today. He was a giant and truth-teller of finance.

Now that the public sphere has moved online, there is more money and power to be gained by piggybacking on outrage than by formulating sound, persuasive arguments, laments @delong 

Former Fed Chairman Paul Volcker died today at age 92. He was the last decent Fed. Chairman. While he rests in peace, the inflation that he helped kill will be coming back to life. While we mourn Volcker, we should also mourn Fed independence and sound money that died with him.
