University students will be allowed home to their families at Christmas if everyone follows the latest coronavirus restrictions, a Cabinet minister has said. Up to 1,700 students are isolating at Manchester Met University.

Students at Manchester Met say they were given little notice before their accommodation block was locked down. Lee Wilson, who was already isolating after catching covid says it's an overreaction to keep 1700 students in. The uni says the decision was made after talks with PHE.
