The FBI has arrested Ghislaine Maxwell, @NBCNews  is reporting. We are standing at the threshold of a door to vast, deeply damaging knowledge

Ever wonder why diversity efforts in Corporate America rarely seem to change or grow? Here's an example of how they can founder. There was a bill, passed by the House, that would have forced public companies to disclose race, gender & veteran status of their directors & officers

It actually had a chance of becoming law! Last week the Senate prepared to pass it by unanimous consent. But @SenMikeLee  objected. "It's not the public's business, " he said of the racial makeup of public companies' senior leadership. Watch his speech here

This is amazing to me because it was such a mild requirement. Do you know how hard it is to get companies to voluntarily disclose--in detail--the makeup of their workforces? It's very hard sometimes! This would have represented just a tiny portion of what we really ought to see

In the meantime, if you talk to people who are actually trying to reduce the hold that whiteness has on the corporate world, pretty much everyone will tell you there must, first and foremost, be more people of color in every part of a company, from the bottom to the top

"Ms. Trump, a clinical psychologist, asserts that her uncle has all nine clinical criteria for being a narcissist. And yet, she notes, even that label does not capture the full array of the president’s psychological troubles." On @POTUS 's niece's book

"Donald gestured towards Eric Trump’s wife, his daughter-in-law. 'Lara, there...I barely even knew who the fuck she was, honestly, but then she gave a great speech during the campaign in Georgia supporting me.' The couple had been together for 8 years"

The Supreme Court cleared the way for prosecutors in NY to see @POTUS’s financial records, a stunning defeat for Mr. Trump but a decision that probably means the records will be shielded from public scrutiny, perhaps indefinitely.

A Chilean billionaire bought a mansion in DC just before @POTUS 's inauguration. While he was closing on it, Jared Kushner & Ivanka Trump signed a deal to rent it. Then the billionaire got permission to plan a mine on environmentally delicate US land

I once sought Hope Hicks’ response for story on . Reporter in Slovenia found her dad sold used car parts, mom worked in kids clothing factory. Hope’s version: Mom was fashion designer, dad managed car dealership. Got mad when we printed facts from the ground

ICE moved more 60 women out of earshot of DHS Secretary Kristjen Nielsen, who was visiting the detention center where they were being held after having their children taken away from them, so she couldn't hear them screaming for help, says

Stephen Miller’s uncle is a neuropsychologist who volunteers to help refugees escaping extreme trauma. He’s also a very lucid writer. In this essay he tells the story of the family’s escape from Belarus. Check it out:

Protecting a source's identity is one of the most important aspects of a journalist's job. Some anonymous sources are risking their jobs; others tell their stories with their own safety on the line. Then there's this guy

Law enforcement officers at the Minneapolis protests slashed peoples' car tires, including those belonging to news crews, calling the practice "strategic deflation." Ballsiest euphemism since "airplane inversion?"

Sessions is now giving a blow by blow description of a conversation w/Russian ambassador he originally said he didn't remember.

I can’t stop thinking about Jabari Bennett. He had $70,000 in his bank account. He wanted $6,400 of his own money, & the bank wouldn’t give it to him. When I asked him how that made him feel, he started to cry. “It made me feel like I was nothing,” he said
