3/4: Bills like the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act must be passed. Black & brown communities must be protected even when there isn't someone conveniently around to record their murders. Black mothers should not have to live in fear that their children will become a hashtag.

George Floyd's life mattered. His future mattered. He was essential. No more hashtags. Stop killing black people.

1/4: Today, we celebrate the accountability administered for the murder of George Floyd. Floyd was a father, a partner, a peacemaker, an athlete. As a second-grader, Floyd's mother remarks that he dreamed of being a U.S. Supreme Court Justice.

2/4: Despite him not being able to live long enough to realize this dream, we hope that his death serves as a modality for innumerable black peoples to attain justice. In order for this to take place, the verdict today must be coupled by police reform.

4/4: Anything short of drastic police reform is being complicit in a reality in which black murders are explicable, black narratives are erasable, and black bodies are expendable. We thank Attorney General Keith Ellison for leading the team that successfully prosecuted Chauvin.
