Heartbroken that we have lost Sir David Amess MP. A great common sense politician and a formidable campaigner with a big heart, and tremendous generosity of spirit - including towards those he disagreed with. RIP my friend.

Our firm but fair Borders Bill is back in the Commons today. It will help minimise delays in our immigration system by preventing repeated appeals in cases the courts have ruled to be without merit.

Great to speak to @suezUK  and @greeneking  today about how ex-offenders are helping them fill vacancies, which also reduces reoffending. I'm hosting a summit on Thursday so more employers can work with prisons to fill jobs and help us cut crime. Visit

Our new laws mean terrorists spend longer behind bars & face stricter supervision to keep the public safe. These proposed @SentencingCCL  guidelines will ensure punishments fit the severity of the crime.

I want more prison governors to follow the lead of Andrew Davy, Governor of @ford_hmp , who is getting prisoners trained up and into decent jobs. There’s no better way we can help cut reoffending than by showing prisoners the way out of crime.

I want more employers to see the potential in ex-offenders as they look to fill vacancies. I’ve set out my plan in @thetimes  to get prisons working closer with them to plug skills gaps in the economy and cut crime at the same time.

Thanks to the employers who joined me today to hear why recruiting prison leavers is good for business and helps cut crime. I'm determined to improve job prospects for offenders as part of my plan to drive down reoffending. #SeeWhatsOnTheInside

Super courtrooms, Nightingale Courts and limit-free sitting days have laid the platform for crown court recovery in the most difficult of circumstances. I will push hard to reduce outstanding cases and restore swift access to justice for victims.

1/2) It was an amazing experience skydiving for @SSChospices  on Friday – thank you to @GoSkydiveUK . @SSChospices  do vital work, supporting hundreds of families in unimaginably difficult circumstances. It’s great to have raised over £23,000 so far for this inspirational charity.

Today the UK has sanctioned further individuals responsible for serious human rights violations against the people of Myanmar during the coup. We are clear we will act to hold those who violate human rights accountable. We stand with the #Myanmar  people

I am deeply concerned by the violence in Nigeria, including widespread reports of civilian deaths. We call for an end to all violence. The Nigerian government must urgently investigate reports of brutality by its security forces and hold those responsible to account.

The decision to charge 47 Hong Kong politicians & activists for subversion under the NSL is deeply disturbing. It shows in the starkest terms the NSL being used to eliminate political dissent rather than restore order - contrary to what the Chinese Government promised

We condemn the detention and charges against Aung San Suu Kyi and other elected officials. They must be released immediately and have charges removed. There must be no backsliding from democracy. The UK is consulting with international partners on next steps

Today’s killing of unarmed civilians, including children, marks a new low. We will work with our international partners to end this senseless violence, hold those responsible to account, and secure a path back to democracy.
