Heartbroken that we have lost Sir David Amess MP. A great common sense politician and a formidable campaigner with a big heart, and tremendous generosity of spirit - including towards those he disagreed with. RIP my friend.
Our new laws mean terrorists spend longer behind bars & face stricter supervision to keep the public safe. These proposed @SentencingCCL guidelines will ensure punishments fit the severity of the crime.
I want more prison governors to follow the lead of Andrew Davy, Governor of @ford_hmp , who is getting prisoners trained up and into decent jobs. There’s no better way we can help cut reoffending than by showing prisoners the way out of crime.
I want more employers to see the potential in ex-offenders as they look to fill vacancies. I’ve set out my plan in @thetimes to get prisons working closer with them to plug skills gaps in the economy and cut crime at the same time.
Thanks to the employers who joined me today to hear why recruiting prison leavers is good for business and helps cut crime. I'm determined to improve job prospects for offenders as part of my plan to drive down reoffending. #SeeWhatsOnTheInside

1/2) It was an amazing experience skydiving for @SSChospices on Friday – thank you to @GoSkydiveUK . @SSChospices do vital work, supporting hundreds of families in unimaginably difficult circumstances. It’s great to have raised over £23,000 so far for this inspirational charity.

We condemn the detention and charges against Aung San Suu Kyi and other elected officials. They must be released immediately and have charges removed. There must be no backsliding from democracy. The UK is consulting with international partners on next steps
