To be sure, America has made mistakes. But never have I seen this nation or its president so full of excuses for abject failures. So much of what we see now, from COVID deaths, to economic plight, to countless other affronts to reason and progress, did not need to happen.

Fundamental to democracy is the peaceful transition of power; without that, there is Belarus. Any suggestion that a president might not respect this Constitutional guarantee is both unthinkable and unacceptable.

Tonight, I’m thinking of Breonna Taylor’s family who is still grieving the loss of a daughter and sister. We must never stop speaking Breonna’s name as we work to reform our justice system, including overhauling no-knock warrants.

Respectfully, Senator, you are not helpless. You have leverage. Your #SCOTUS  vote. Don’t want us to lose our democracy? Don’t give up your #SCOTUS  vote so easily. Speak the only language @realDonaldTrump  understands: strength. No peaceful translation pledge, no vote.

It is sort of noteable that Biden is repeatedly pressed to respond to and denounce looting and riots that happen at these protests while Kyle Rittenhouse becomes a folk hero on the right and militias now roam the streets of cities.
