Is there a school, extra-curricular program etc that teaches all the important things that traditional schools fail to teach? Things to be a good person & an effective leader? Practical ethics, truth-seeking, critical thinking, investing, job-seeking, leadership techniques etc

1/ A few observations for my journalist friends... - No one single-handedly does anything - Not every criticism is "scathing" - Continually re-reporting how an incident was originally reported/perceived and not the eventually established facts is miss-reporting

1/ Business People are from Mars, Academics are from Venus. They are worlds apart. Neither is better or worse (and both are desperately needed in our society) but it’s an interesting challenge when they try to cross into each other’s field

It’s not a startup until you quit your day job. Until then it’s a side project. It’s not a product until users are Onboarding themselves. It’s not a business until your product is generating revenue. It’s not sustainable until your business is profitable. #consultingconvos

Tech press: "App is tracking you even after yiu delete it" Truth: "App is fingerprinting device to avoid fraudsters deleting & reinstalling"

Wrote a long piece about this confusion here:

Just heard about a company with 600k registered users and 550k monthly active. Growing rapidly organically. 3 person team with minuscule burn. Huge space. AU VCs won’t invest. Boggles the mind. Their loss.

Are you doing something disruptive? Are you building something that makes an aspect of life 10x faster, better, cheaper? I want to hear from you. I'm blocking out my time for Strategic Advisory over the next 3 months and I have 2 slots available to work on something awesome.

As the founder of the Data Portability project - a project that coined and popularized the concept - I have to say, having Mark Zuckerberg call for data portability regulation is a pretty amazing development.

It’s not enough to have an idea It’s not enough to give it a name It’s not enough to tell your friends It’s not enough to dabble or do research It’s not enough to build a prototype It’s not enough to build an mvp It’s not enough to ship it It’s not enough to market it

My general advice to all Australian startups... 1. Go faster. Hustle more. 2. Do more research about your competitors 3. Why are you targeting Australia? Choose your market as intentionally as you choose your next feature 4. Ship! #mentoring  #payitforward
