@DAaronovitch  Tony Benn often remarked on how important it was for us on the left to “say what you mean, and mean what you say”. I’m disappointed that Tony Greenstein should pay so little heed to this wise advice.

And “there was still quite a significant electoral support for the radical forces” – a fine parody of Tony Benn’s “8½m votes for socialism” in 1983

The vote was after the event of Britain's 1973 EEC membership and the Thatcher was warning that a 'no' vote, primarily urged by left-wingers like Tony Benn, would break international law

I've watched this umpteen times since seeing it days ago. 1998, UK MP Tony Benn implores his country not to join the US in bombing Iraq. The particulars are irrelevant. Benn's UNIMPEACHABLE clarity transcends. See what we're deprived of now. See how leadership & wisdom feel!

“Hope is the fuel of progress and fear is the prison in which you put yourself” – Tony Benn. I recently spoke to @liamyoung  on the importance of Tony Benn’s ideas and legacy. You can give it a listen at

Today marks four years since we lost Tony Benn. It was lovely to catch up with to remember her father, a titan of our movement and a great friend of mine.
