What I heard repeatedly was that Roger Stone was being treated differently from any other defendant because of his relationship to the President. I was told that the Acting US Atty for DC Timothy Shea was receiving heavy pressure from the highest levels of @TheJusticeDept

Timothy Shea, the former acting U.S. attorney for D.C. who was described as "afraid of the president" to Zelinsky, is now the acting head of the DEA.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron Zelinsky will testify that then-acting U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Timothy Shea complied with pressure "to cut Stone a break," adding that he was "explicitly told" Shea was "afraid of the president."

The DEA is generally limited to enforcing drug-related federal crimes, but the agency’s acting administrator, Timothy Shea, asked for and received permission “to perform other law enforcement duties.”

tl;dr: The same guy, Timothy Shea, who argued that Flynn was railroaded is now putting the full weight of the DEA's authority into domestic surveillance totally outside of its intended investigative authority. And he never went before the Senate to get confirmed to either job.

DEA acting administrator Timothy Shea mentions "verbal assaults" against law enforcement. That sounds like an Orwellian term to restrict freedom of speech. He also mentions targeted thefts of pharmacies. That is a thing.

Timothy Shea was installed in this position by Barr in January, after working for Barr directly, and now he’s doing Barr/Trump’s bidding, and he (Shea) has never been nominated, let alone confirmed, to any DOJ post in this administration.
