Hundreds of top companies had already pledged last year to observe Juneteenth in the wake of the police killing of George Floyd. But most private companies take their cues from the federal government in drawing up their holiday calendars.

A six-foot statue of George Floyd has been put on display in New York.

Following the death of George Floyd, urban farmers in Minneapolis used their garden to feed their community. In the process, it offered a way for people to come together and heal.

During Juneteenth celebrations in Brooklyn, NY, a statue of George Floyd was unveiled by artist Chris Carnabuci.
