The remains of Laura is heading our way for tonight and early Saturday. The storm prediction center has placed us in a slight risk (second-highest level) for severe storms tonight and into Sat AM. Best chance for storms will be after dark and through the overnight. Paul Barys

THIS JUST IN: Storm Prediction Center has now included all of Northern Illinois & Northern Indiana under a SLIGHT RISK for scattered severe storms. For this #Chicago  area, it's mainly expected this evening although a couple isolated storms will be possible this afternoon.

The Storm Prediction Center has expanded the Slight Risk of severe weather farther north. There may be another round of storms that fires this afternoon. Those could be strong to severe with the main threats being strong wind, hail or even an isolated tornado.

The Storm Prediction Center took the rare step of announcing a “high risk” zone for potentially catastrophic tornadoes, the first time in 2 years that the center had designated such an area. It covers 2 million people.

A dangerous day for weather is forecast for Monday in portions of Texas and Oklahoma. "An outbreak of tornadoes, some potentially long-track and violent, is expected today into this evening," the Storm Prediction Center warned.
