A mural inspired by Douglas Stuart's Booker Prize-winning novel Shuggie Bain has been unveiled in the city where much of the book is set. The writer described his pride as the artwork was revealed on a wall of the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow.

Douglas Stuart has won the Booker Prize, one of the most prestigious literary awards in the world, for his book "Shuggie Bain"

This year's Booker Prize goes to Douglas Stuart's debut novel ‘Shuggie Bain.’ I spoke to him about his writing last month.

“It’s challenging, it’s intimate, it’s gripping, it’s daring,” a Booker Prize judge said of this year’s winner, “Shuggie Bain.” “To some extent, I think anybody who reads it will never feel the same.”

Douglas Stuart won the Booker Prize for “Shuggie Bain,” an autobiographical novel about the lonely gay son of an alcoholic mother in 1980s Scotland.
