Schumer to Rs: "You will speed the precipitous decline of faith in our institution, our politics, the Senate and the Supreme Court. You will give an already divided and angry nation a fresh outrage and open a wound in this chamber that will take a very long time to heal."

Does anyone have “Trump loses, Rs lose the Senate, Thomas retires and Rs fill his seat in December” on their bingo card?

Schumer to Rs: "You may win this vote and Amy Coney Barrett may become the next associate justice of the Supreme Court, but you will never get your credibility back." "You may win this vote, but in the process you will speed the precipitous decline" of politics/Senate/SCOTUS

Rs not debating Ds in Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama Senate races (no debate in Michigan either so far) Jones on Tuberville: “He's proven that he’s a quitter at his job, and now he’s proven he’s just kind of a coward” @marianne_levine ⁩

Maybe the most notable thing here is that McConnell told Senate Rs he knew his remarks would probably leak. It's about as public a way for him to throw cold water on what Trump wants as if he had come out and said it at the mics outside @Fandos  @cochrane

The “dump Feinstein” movement is superficially about the Barrett hearings, but let’s be honest - Democrats were never going to stop Barrett when Rs had the votes. The movement’s really about a potential Dem senate majority, and Feinstein signaling support for blue slips.

Yes, it's craven, but it's also very strategic. Rs understand how Americans think: short term, with short memories. If the economy's miserable in 2yrs and Biden's been able to pass nothing due Rs blocking him in the Senate, Americans won't blame Republicans, they'll blame Biden.

worth noting Collins is one of maybe 3 total Senate Rs who supports - and has vocally pushed colleagues on - the president’s push for a “big” stimulus deal

Pres. Trump says Senate Rs will fall in line w/ a large stimulus package if he simply asks them. “I haven’t asked them to, because I can’t get through Nancy Pelosi.” (But: many Senate GOP say there’s less incentive to spend now than before bc $ won’t hit accounts before Nov 3)

@SenBookerOffice : “We are here because in the middle of a deadly pandemic, in the middle of an ongoing election, Senate Rs have found a nom in Judge Barrett who they know will do what they couldn’t do: subvert the will of the American people & overturn the ACA & overturn Roe V. Wade."

Mitt Romney never knew how to win. He is a pompous “ass” who has been fighting me from the beginning, except when he begged me for my endorsement for his Senate run (I gave it to him), and when he begged me to be Secretary of State (I didn’t give it to him). He is so bad for R’s!

McConnell called off the Senate next week because of Covid. But Lindsey tasked with continuing to ram through extreme SCOTUS nominee on Monday. Now the Rs on committee refusing to test for the virus. What does that tell you about their desire to protect others? To protect you?

A Senate GOP aide, on background, tells the Post that some Rs are now discussing asking Leader McConnell to "take the Senate out of session next week" before the ACB hearings start in mid-October. "If some in the Republican caucus get sick, we are screwed," the aide says.

Trump is assuming dictatorial powers because Senate Republicans refused for 3 months to respond to House Democrats’ proposal. Now those same Senate Rs have the gall to support Trump’s unconstitutional power grab. American democracy has never been as endangered.

Even if we get 100% Republican votes in the Senate, we need 10 Democrat votes to get a much needed Immigration Bill - & the Dems are Obstructionists who won’t give votes for political reasons & because they don’t care about Crime coming from Border! So we need to elect more R’s!

Senate R bill: 1. One-time payment up to $1,200 per adult. 2. Won't get this unless income reaches $23,500. 3. So 64 million households with incomes below $50,000 would get less than $1,200. 4. These are same Rs who gave wealthy and corps $2,000,000,000,000 in tax cuts.

NEW--> in memo to all Senate Rs obtained by WaPo, Rachel Mitchell argues re Ford case: "A 'he said, she said' case is incredibly difficult to prove. But this case is even weaker than that." Story TK

Someone explain to me why this “crisis” on the border only happened after Ds took over House? Why didn’t Rs address this “crisis” during last 2 years when they were in control and could use majority vote in Senate through reconciliation? Now threatening to blow up Constitution?
