KMUX radar update (4:22 PM LST) - The line of storms that moved thru the SF Bay is now passing through the Santa Cruz Mtns and still producing lightning (blue in gif). Getting few reports of pea-size hail. Approaching the Monterey Peninsula & moving south in the next hour. #CAwx 

The Red Flag Warnings for the lower elevations in the Bay Area as well as Santa Cruz Mtns have been allowed to expire. But the Red Flag Warning for the North Bay Mtns and East Bay Hills continues until 5 pm Tuesday. We've also adjusted our expected winds. Stay Safe!

A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for the North Bay Mtns, East Bay Hills and the Santa Cruz Mtns valid starting at 5 AM PDT on Wed. lasting through Fri. at 11 AM PDT. Offshore winds over higher terrain is expected to be gusty with dry conditions in place. #CAwx  #CAfire

A weather spotter in the Redwood Estates reports the arrival of the north wind we have been expecting over the crest of the Santa Cruz mtns. The #CZUAugustLightningComplex  is showing signs of strengthening as these breezy winds hit the fire.

The Santa Cruz Mtns are acting as a rain shadow with this morning's rain. On the southwest/windward side of the Santa Cruz Mtns, up to an inch of rain has been observed at a weather station located at 2,300 ft. At the San Jose Airport on the leeward side, only 0.03". #CAwx

As of 345am: Light rainfall accumulations now observed across the Santa Cruz mtns/shorefront. Orographic lift from SC mtns tapped into the moist air aloft after the frontal boundary weakened. Latest KMUX radar shows a secondary band of showers over Marin & heading towards SF.

A Heat Advisory has been issued for Tues and Weds from 11 AM to 7 PM for the North Bay Mnts/Valleys, East Bay Valleys, Santa Clara Valley, SF City, SF Bay Shoreline, Santa Cruz Mtns, North/South Monterey Bay and Big Sur Coast, North/South Salinas Valley, and Carmel Valley#CAwx 

An atmospheric river will impact the region today through Wednesday morning. Expect periods of moderate to heavy rainfall, widespread flooding from the Santa Cruz mtns into the North Bay, and gusty winds. #cawx
