1,900+ Palestinian citizens of Israel have been arrested in the last month. Israel launched operation "Law and Order" in May, arresting anyone they suspected of protesting against the bombardment of Gaza, the attacks at Al Aqsa and the expulsion of families in Sheikh Jarrah.
This Palestinian marathon runner says he was attacked at least 6 times and left unable to walk the next day after Israeli forces charged the finish line of a race in East Jerusalem (warning: distressing)
Arab and Palestinian Israelis make up 15% of voters, but Arab parties have only 10% of Knesset seats, reflecting growing alienation of many voters amid "controversial laws [that] emphasize Jewish supremacy at the expense of the Arab minority."
A Palestinian child should be sitting in a classroom, not in rubble. World leaders must act immediately to protect the human rights of Palestinians.
The Palestinian woman who captured the world's attention when she confronted an Israeli settler tells AJ+ how she's fighting to #SaveSheikhJarrah . "We are not going anywhere. We'll stay in our homes until the last moment."
I saw a lot more instances of entirely unnecessary, provocative behavior by Israeli police/military today. At Damascus Gate (stun grenades thrown at peaceful Palestinian group), in Sheikh Jarrah (skunk water fired on Palestinian homes) & Bethlehem (volleys of tear gas)
I stand with the Palestinian people. My heart aches for the families who have lost loved ones. We can not stand as silent witnesses to children being orphaned and murdered and not demand for the human rights of all Palestinians! This must end. Free Palestine.
If the United States is going to be a credible voice on human rights on the global stage, we must uphold international standards of human rights consistently. We must recognize that Palestinian rights matter. Palestinian lives matter.
The Israeli people have the right to live in peace and security. So do the Palestinian people. I remain concerned about the platform AIPAC provides for leaders who express bigotry and oppose basic Palestinian rights. For that reason I will not attend their conference. 1/2
